Sauvignon Blanc 2009
The palest of straw colours, the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc boasts a tropical fruit top nose with guava, mango and pineapple lumps leading into candied violets.The palate is also tropical with pineapple upfront, grapefruit and a touch of sherbet in the mid-palate and finishing on a candy floss confectionery note. Well balanced, full bodied and dry, it exudes concentrated fruit flavours right through to the lingering finish.
Winemakers Release Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Starting with a nice mixture of fruit and oak on the nose, the 2009 reserve sauvignon blanc – made in a fume style – leads into concentrated tropical aromas of pineapple and coconut.The palate has a subtle oakiness integrated with an underlying fruit component, leading into a stonefruit – think nectarines – second tier with hints of creamy lees and a complex oaky finish.
Pinot Gris 2009
The colour of pale onion flesh, the 2009 Pinot Gris offers up a first note of pears with white peaches and nectarine leading into a confectionery and royal gala apple nose with underlying hints of honeydew melon and a lingering cone honey finish. Off-dry, this is a very approachable style.
Chardonnay 2009
Light pale honey coloured, the 2009 oaked Chardonnay opens with vanilla, smokey toasted oak and slight hazelnut overtones on the nose.The initial palate is peach and coconut leading into butterscotch, caramel and vanilla with a lingering oak and hazelnut finish, echoing toasty lees. A soft, approachable and well balanced Chardonnay, it is reminiscent of an old world style.
Reserve Chardonnay 2008
A confident, well focused wine of firm acidity and good persistence, tasty without being insistent.On the nose this wine has delicate aromas of white peach, almonds and grapefruit laced with touches of honeysuckle and butterscotch combined with strong toasty oak influence. A full-bodied chardonnay with satisfying flavours of stone fruit and grapefruit, with underlying nutty, spicy oak and vanilla notes. The palate is bright and elegant, youthful and creamy with a soft acidity that leads into a lingering finish.
Noble Chardonnay 2009
Hand-picked at 40 brix, the grapes were loaded into the press as whole bunches then macerated with enzymes over a six day period. After being pressed out, a prolonged fermentation was carried out followed by a stop ferment and natural stabilisation before filtration and a limited edition bottling.A deep lemony, honey colour, honey is also evident on the first nose followed soon after by bursts of figs, apricots and muscatels. The lingering palate is honeycomb with raisins and dried fruits leading into a luscious, mouth-filling finish.
Pinot Noir 2009
A soft, inviting front announces a dry, pleasant wine with nice plumy fruit flavours and an acceptably long finish.The nose is strawberries, boysenberries and blackberries with a hint of violets while the palate includes mouth-filling berry flavours with hints of savouriness, pepper, spice and truffles. Reminiscent of lychee flesh in colour, the 2009 Gewürztraminer boasts a highly aromatic nose of pure honeyed Turkish Delight and echoing hints of rose petals. On the palate classic characteristics of apricots, Christmas peaches and nectarine skin evolve into a mid-level of ripe royal gala apples leading to a Moorish spicy yet dry finish redolent with Turkish Delight, and subtle cinnamon.
