Sauvignon Blanc (375ml) 2009 Vintage The palest of straw colours, the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc boasts a tropical fruit top nose with guava, mango and pineapple lumps leading into candied violets. The palate is also tropical with pineapple upfront, grapefruit and a touch of sherbet in the mid-palate and finishing on a candy floss confectionery note. Noble Chardonnay (375ml) 2009 Vintage Vineyard: One tonne of single vineyard grapes, hand-picked from nine-year-old vines at Anchorage’s Bridge Vineyard, were been used in this vineyard “sticky” trial. Clone 6 vines in a four cane VSP format were carefully tended and “noble rot” encouraged to produce balanced botrytised bunches with nice concentrated fruit flavours worthy of a late harvest. Winemaking: Hand-picked at 40 brix, the grapes were loaded into the press as whole bunches then macerated with enzymes over a six day period. After being pressed out, a prolonged fermentation was carried out followed by a stop ferment and natural stabilisation before filtration and a limited edition bottling. No fining agents were used. Tasting Notes: A deep lemony, honey colour, honey is also evident on the first nose followed soon after by bursts of figs, apricots and muscatels. Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Vintage Single vineyard grapes have produced a very drinkable, dry up-front, concentrated, polished New Zealand style. On the nose, aromas of ripe lemon, lychee and granny smith apples combine with fresh hay, while the concentrated palate is evocative of nectarine, Christmas peaches and kiwifruit.
